We’ve been lucky to get several wonderful sightings with this band of brothers: our resident cheetah coalition. While we don’t see them very often, it’s always such a pleasure when they roll through the Africa on Foot traverse in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve.

In this sighting, the two boys weren’t very busy. Just hanging about and stretching out on top of a termite mound. As with all big cats, those little moments of preening and head rolling are a darling reminder of our domesticated felines. While we love all cats, the wild ones are our favourite!

Cheetah are one of the African Wildlife species that are targeted for the big cat bone trade. Their numbers are falling across the Africa continent due to the growing demand of this insidious black market. There are a number of fantastic organisations working to combat this however, be sure to check out the work by the team at the Endangered Wildlife Trust – they sure could use your support!

Hopefully these gorgeous cats are around for a long time so we can enjoy lots of special sightings like this one.

Roaming Media runs a film residency out of Africa on Foot and nThambo Tree Camp in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, under our ongoing content partnership with Sun Destinations. Keep an eye on our blog for more updates from our adventures #RoamingTheWild.
