In the latest update from our adventures #RoamingTheWild at Africa on Foot, we found this Male leopard with a kudu kill up a Marula Tree.

He had hoisted this young kudu carcass up out of reach of the hyenas lurking below. Not worried about his audience, he tucked into the meaty meal before securing it safely in the tree trunk and climbing down to the ground to go off in search of water.

Leopards killing adult Kudus is quite uncommon – but a youngster of this size didn’t stand a chance against this Big Tom. The most common prey we see in situations like this are the impala – which are abundant throughout the Greater Kruger.

We’re not sure if there is an ID kit available for this male leopard, but he was extremely relaxed with the game viewers in his presence, and went about his business as if we weren’t there. Great sightings work both ways, with the animals comfort of utmost importance.
